Being A Father

Our youngest daughter celebrated her 6th birthday this past weekend... she's growing up so fast! It's exciting to see her personality develop and watch her discover her passions and talents. She loves to color, sing and dance. I love sitting with her and look into her BIG brown eyes! Her laugh is contagious and has a wonderful personality. She's so determined and strong-willed that it drives me nuts... (that's probably because she's a lot like me).

Christmas... this is how

It's no secret that I am not a handy-man. The only tools I own are: a drill gun, screw drivers, hammer, measuring tape, hanging wire and painting stuff. So what do I do with these? I paint, hang pictures and intall blinds.

So whenever I have something that needs to be done around the house, I call up one of my friends who has the know how and the tools to do it. I've learned how to do a lot of things by working by their side as they walk me through the steps. I've replaced garbage disposals, taken up flooring, laid down vinyl floors, installed tile, replaced toilets and even done some electrical work. All because they taught me by saying "This is how..."

The Spirit of Christmas

Each night as I make my way back home, I see more homes getting into the Christmas Spirit; lights on the house and out in the yard, wreaths on doors and decorated trees in the window. Then I get to my house... nothing. No lights mounted yet, no tree inside. It doesn't look like there's any Christmas Spirit in our house.

What is the Spirit of Christmas? Is it the lights, decorations, egg nog and the shopping frenzie? Obviously not... but what is it?

Ruined for Anything Else

Matthew 1:23  "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus [the Lord saves], because He will save His people from their sins."

Deep inside the heart of every person is the desire to be apart of greatness. So here's a question... what if you could? What if the opportunity came to you to be apart of something bigger than you; beyond what you felt comfortable with? Would you embrace it... all of it?
