Restoring Honor

In our society today, and even within the church, we place great weight and value on our opinions, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, being independent, individuality and not conforming to the thoughts and ways of others. There seems to be something that we have forgotten and sidelined that is more valuable and meaningful to the heart of God. It’s something known as honor.
Honor defined is: to esteem as valuable or precious, but dishonor is defined as: to treat as common or ordinary. Notice that dishonor isn't defined as spiting upon or insulting, but to simple treat it as common, familiar and ordinary.

Matthew 13:57,58 NIV But Jesus said to them, “Only in his own home town is and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

Jesus was fully capable and completely willing to do mighty works, but because of dishonor He couldn't do it. Now, it sounds as if Jesus is say: "I can't have my way, so give me my ball because I'm going home." This isn't the issue. The issue was that their hearts were not able to receive from Jesus because He was "the son of Mary and Joseph"... and we know what their story (unbelievable story) of how Jesus came to be.

We can limit God, and what the full potential of what He desire to do in our lives because we've become acustome to the normalicy of the message of Jesus Christ and the numbed or forgotten reality of all that He is... the Son of God, Creator and Author of all life, the Almighty One and Savior of all humanity.

We must restore honor in our heart and understanding. Don't let the awe of who Jesus Christ is, or the Love that He has for us, become merely common, familiar or ordinary. Let's continue to give Him our best! WE CAN DO BETTER AT HONORING HIM!
