Ruined for Anything Else

Matthew 1:23  "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus [the Lord saves], because He will save His people from their sins."

Deep inside the heart of every person is the desire to be apart of greatness. So here's a question... what if you could? What if the opportunity came to you to be apart of something bigger than you; beyond what you felt comfortable with? Would you embrace it... all of it?
Imagine being Mary or Joseph, and you are informed that you will be the earthly parents of the long awaited Messiah of the world! I can't help but wonder if they knew the full ramifications of what that would mean. Mary knew she was a virgin... but how many people would ever believe her? Joseph had questions about it until an angle revealed the truth to him. If I were either one of them, I would probably request that God would send that angle to every person who doubted so I wouldn't have to look into their unbelieving faces.

When God invites you to be apart of something big, something that is of God, there will always be those who won't believe and doubt. The reality is... when God gives you a sense of purpose you're ruined for anything else!

You know you can't say 'no', and if you did, you would live your life always wondering "what if". Anything else you attempt to give yourself to would never truly satisfy. Saying 'yes' isn't any easier because you will always have those who doubt.

When you say yes to the purpose of God, you're also saying yes to the road of sacrifice, the misunderstandings, the limited options and luxuries that other have. You're ruined to anything 'normal' that others may experience.

The life of Jesus had a purpose: to save all mankind from sin. He was always the 'different' one, being judged and ridiculed by others, challenged with what He did and why He did it. His purpose gave such clarity of what He was to do and what not to do... and people couldn't understand it all. He knew what He was living for, and He knew what He would die for.

The strength and determination Jesus had to live out His purpose ultimately led to the greatest gift that you and I could ever have... a forgiven life from sin and a reunited relationship with God. When we live our life with a God given purpose, our life is ruined for anything else... but the end result is a gift that goes beyond you.

I want to live my life in a great way... a God way! I'm ruined for a life that's normal, easy or comfortable. I may not fully understand all the heartache and sacrifice it may require, but I'm ruined for anything else!
