I Dare You To Move

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I stopped those childish ways. 1 Corinthians 13:11

I love music! I listen to it at work, in my car, at home, church, etc... During my workout today (that kicked by butt) I had my Ipod and Switchfoot's song; I Dare You To Move came on. I was movin' and groovin' during my workout and wanted to bust out singing! The lyrics to the chorus are:

I dare you to move, I dare you to move, I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor. I dare you to move, I dare you to move like today never happened, today never happened before.

This song encouraged and reminded me of 3 things God is daring me to move from, and what He's daring me to move towards. To move from my fears, insecurities and pleasing others; and move towards greater faith, greater trust in Him, and courage to be and do what God is wanting in my life.

It's not that I don't want to move, but I have funtioned this way for most of my life and have become comfortable with it. A great truth a good friend of mine tells me is that our potential is alway outside of our comfort zone. Because of God's great love for me, He is daring me to move... what about you?

God, thank you for seeing my potential and being faithful in daring me to move from where I am and who I am to be who You want me to be. As I look to You, help me overcome my comfortable ways and be more bold and courageous because I'm growing more in love with you.
